Asus, just like Dell, have gaming monitors that aren’t a part of their Republic of Gamers series, which cost less and usually sacrifice physical looks instead of performance. The VG278Q is an excellent example, and for those who don’t have the specs to push a 1440p panel, it might be excellent. It’s a 27” monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a response time of 1ms and a 144 Hz refresh rate. To further improve gaming performance, there’s Asus’s GameFast input technology. Oh, and it’s also G-Sync compatible, so users of Nvidia GPUs won’t have any tearing or artifacts during gaming.
Since it’s not one of their ROG products, it comes with slim bezels and just a few accents, instead of RGB lighting and projecting logos. Port selection is good, with HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort 1.2, as well as a DVI port. It also comes with stereo speakers, if you want to use them. The monitor is excellent for longer gaming sessions, as it comes with Asus’s EyeCare technology, and the stand does offer quite a bit of adjustment so you can set it up just right for you. All things considered, an excellent gaming monitor if you aren’t a big fan of the gamer design.

Acer XFA240
Acer’s lineup of gaming monitors is quite impressive, to say the least. They have everything, from budget-oriented ones to high-end displays, such as their Predator monitors. Their XFA240 is one of their somewhat budget-oriented monitors, yet it manages to pack a lot of features that are important for competitive games such as Apex Legends. To begin with, it has a 24” panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a response time of 1ms. You also get Nvidia’s G-Sync adaptive sync technology, so if you have an Nvidia GPU, you won’t get any tearing or artifacts. The panel is a TN panel which manages some fairly impressive viewing angles.
The monitor on the outside has a somewhat subdued design, and the stand allows for a lot of adjustability. You can adjust height and pivot, as well as swivel and tilt. It’s also VESA compatible, so you can mount it on your desk or wall, too. You’ll also find two 2W speakers which sound decent but won’t impress you. Inputs are a choice of DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI and DVI. All things considered, an excellent monitor.

Alienware AW2518Hf
Alienware is Dell’s gaming division, and they’re well known for their somewhat overpriced laptops and gaming desktops. However, their 25” gaming monitor is an extremely popular option, for a lot of reasons. For starters, it’s a 1920 x 1080p TN panel with a response time of 1ms and an impressive 240 Hz refresh rate. It supports AMD’s FreeSync adaptive sync technology, so if you have an AMD card, you’ll get buttery smooth gameplay. Also, as per Nvidia’s latest drivers, you can use it with G-Sync as well.
The monitor’s aesthetic is clearly gamer oriented, but the stand is very adjustable. Height, swivel, tilt, and pivot are all options, so you can get a “just right” position. In terms of inputs, you get DisplayPort, HDMI 2.0a, as well as USB 3.0 ports. It’s definitely not as flashy as some other gaming monitors out there, but if you prefer a more discrete, yet still “gamer” look, the AW2518Hf has excellent performance.

BenQ Zowie XL2540
Zowie is known for their gaming peripherals, especially their mice, and ever since they were bought by BenQ, they’ve made some really impressive gaming monitors as well. A perfect example is the XL2540, which comes with all the features you’ll want for Apex Legends.
To begin with, you have a 24.5” panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a response time of 1ms, and a native 240 Hz refresh rate. If you want a smooth gaming experience, this is where you’ll get it. There’s BenQ’s Black Equalizer technology which will brighten the dark scenes without blowing out the highlights, for a more pleasant image.
The design is where we see an interesting addition – the Shield. There are two panels on the sides which you can set up so distractions to the sides are minimized. If you want to focus on your game and not be distracted by anything else, they actually do help. The stand is adjustable, and very easily we might add. You’ll find the S-Switch at the bottom which lets you navigate the menu and switch between presets. With two HDMI ports, a DisplayPort and a DVI-DL port, as well as USB 3.0 ports and a headphone jack, this is an excellent purchase for any gamer.

LG 34UM69G-B
Even though LG’s ultrawide monitors are better known as productivity displays, that doesn’t exclude them for gaming. You’ll get a very immersive experience with a 21:9 aspect ratio and the 34UM69G-B comes with a couple of gaming-specific features which make it an impressive buy, especially at its asking price. The design is obviously made to appeal to gamers, but it’s still somewhat inconspicuous. The stand is height adjustable, so you can get it just right. There’s a good selection of ports, with an HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2 and a USB-C port for video. If you’re after an ultrawide, this might be a great choice, but the fact that you can’t see more than 75 frames per second will be limiting for some.

Dell S2719DGF
Dell also has gaming monitors that they sell under the Dell name, instead of using the Alienware moniker, and the S2719DGF is one of them. It comes in at a reasonable price and is an excellent panel for gamers. The resolution is 2560 x 1440, just right for 27”, and the monitor is overclockable to 155 Hz. There’s AMD’s FreeSync adaptive sync technology, so you don’t have any tearing or other artifacts. The response time is 1ms, which is standard for a good gaming monitor.
This is one of those more discrete monitors, at least as far as design goes. It looks similar to their P and U series monitors, and it doesn’t have that flashy, gamer aesthetic, which many might appreciate. There are plenty of ports at the back, with two HDMI ports (one 1.4 and one 2.0), as well as a DisplayPort 1.2 port and audio out. There are a few USB ports you can use for peripherals and charging, and you’ll also find a security-lock slot. It’s a very versatile monitor. Regardless of whether you want a speciific monitor for Apex Legends, or just want something made by a reputable brand which has good specs, the S2719DGF is an excellent purchase.

Asus ROG Swift PG278QR
Moving up to a more expensive option, we have a monitor from Asus’s Republic of Gamers lineup, the ROG Swift PG278QR. It’s an extremely popular monitor nowadays and is pretty much loaded with features. The panel is a 27” 2560 x 1440 panel, with an overclocked refresh rate of up to 165 Hz and a 1ms response time. Nvidia’s G-Sync adaptive sync makes an appearance here as well. The monitor has adjustable RGB color settings and temperature, so if you don’t like it out of the box, you can adjust it.
Design-wise, it’s similar to the VG278Q, as it has subdued gaming aesthetic. The stand is adjustable, you can set the height, tilt, pivot, and swivel so they’re just right for you. For longer gaming sessions, there’s Asus’s EyeCare technology, too. Port selection is fairly good, with DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.3 and a few USB 3.0 ports at the back, as well as a Kensington Lock. If budget isn’t an issue, and you can push a 1440p monitor, this might be a strong contender for the best monitor for Apex Legends.

Asus VP28UQG
If you have a powerful computer that can push a lot of pixels, this might be an attractive option for you. The Asus VP28UQG is a 28” monitor with a resolution of 3840 x 2160. It has a 1ms response time and AMD’s FreeSync technology, but you should be aware this is only a 60 Hz refresh rate monitor. Not many systems can actually push games at their highest settings, at 4K, and get more than 60 frames per second, so this isn’t as big of a problem as you might think.
The design is tailored to the everyday user, instead of the gamer, with a simple stand that doesn’t have a lot of adjustability. It’s obvious that the design was a bit lower on the list of priorities when Asus was designing this monitor. At the price, however, there shouldn’t be any complaints, as you’re getting a very fast 4K panel. There’s Asus’s EyeCare technology which basically eliminates flickering and lowers the amount of blue light, making things much more comfortable in extended gaming sessions. If a high refresh rate isn’t a necessity for you, and you’d rather enjoy a high resolution at a relatively affordable price, you should give the VP28UQG a go.

Viotek GN27C2
Viotek might not be the most familiar name when it comes to computer monitors, but that’s exactly what allows them to make excellent displays at fairly affordable prices. This is their 27”, 1920 x 1080p panel, which has a response time of 4.8ms, and a 144 Hz refresh rate. The response time isn’t the best, but at this price, we find it hard to complain about that, honestly. You’ll get AMD’s FreeSync technology to improve the gaming experience, which you can also use out of the box with an Xbox One, as it also has adaptive sync.
On the outside, you get a minimalist design with slim bezels, and the entire monitor is curved. This makes things a bit more immersive, and you’ll enjoy gameplay a bit more. It also has an anti-glare coating, so there are fewer reflections and less strain on your eyes. There are two HDMI 2.1 ports, as well as one DisplayPort, so you can choose what interface you use. All things considered, some might scoff at the refresh rate and the fact that Viotek isn’t as known of a brand as Asus or Dell, but all in all, this is a great gaming monitor.

Acer SB220Q
We’re wrapping up our list with an option for those who are very limited by their budget, yet want something that will make their Apex Legends experience decent. The SB220Q is a 21.5” display with a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080), a response time of 4ms and a 75 Hz refresh rate. What’s interesting is that you can get to 75 Hz using HDMI, whereas other monitors often require DisplayPort for anything over 60 Hz. You get AMD’s FreeSync technology as well, and it’s an IPS panel, so viewing angles and colors will be excellent.
The design is fairly simple, with slim bezels and a simple stand that doesn’t offer much adjustment. However, it’s a tradeoff that’s required to keep the price down. Port selection is limited, too, with a single HDMI port and a VGA one as well. It’s not the best in any category, but if you’re limited by your budget, it’s a good option to check out.
